Advent Devotional: Holy Holy Holy
[lyte id="-FpQuGRlNg8" audio="true" /]Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee There is a sign at the sight of thee Merciful and mighty God in three Persons, God in three Persons, Blessed Trinity
Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee, Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see; Only Thou art holy; There is none beside thee, Perfect in power Perfect in power In love, and purity
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty! All thy works shall praise thy Name, in Earth, and sky, and sea There is a sign at the sight of thee, There is none beside thee, God in three Persons, God in three Persons, God in three Persons, God in three Persons, Blessed Trinity
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
It is easy to forget when viewing the birth of Christ that there are two families in this story. The earthly family of Mary, Joseph & Elizabeth and the heavenly family of the Father and the Son. Amidst the tensions, expectations and emotions of this earthly family we glimpse one perfect relationship: Father & Son. In total harmony. Whose glory is the same. Whose characters perfectly match in grace and truth. Christmas time often highlights the imperfections in our own families. It is then we are to look towards the Trinity as the example and source of unity and love.
HOLY SPIRIT bring healing and wholeness to our families. May we grow in love, patience and forgiveness!
