RCC U continues this fall with a Mental Health Series led by Dr. Susan Stanford-Rue, including David Monticalvo and Martha Paulk. Thursdays from September 14 to October 5. Childcare is provided.
The objective of the series would be to bring awareness and education to the church about mental health issues in order to promote God's healing in individuals' lives. The goal of this effort is to begin a cultural shift within the Christian community to enable people to have a greater understanding of mental health issues and to provide support to those who struggle with mental health problems. There will be presentations over four weeks that define specific types of mental disorders, discuss treatments available for mental health concerns, and provide suggestions as to ways that we as Christians can be involved in bringing support and healing to those who are dealing with these issues.
Dr. Susan Stanford-Rue has had over thirty years experience in the mental health field. She was a professor of counseling psychology for eight years. Since then Susan has been in private practice as a psychologist and also consults with several hospitals.
David Monticalvo's experience includes having been a motivational speaker, life coach, and adjunct professor. With a background in counseling and innovative healthcare research, he holds a Master of Public Health and Bachelor of Social Work.
