This Christmas we'll be teaming up with local non-profit Kim's Open Door to provide support and relief to local refugee families! There are three ways you can help:
1. Drop off a $20 gift card from Wal-mart, Winn-Dixie, Publix or any gas station at the Christmas tree in our lobby.
2. Donate $25, $50 or more towards a local food drive.
3. Volunteer at the food drive on 12/15.
The food drive ("10,000 Meal Christmas Extravaganza") will be on Saturday, December 15th from 9:45 a.m. to 12 p.m at local food distribution center Hunger Fight (2935 Dawn Rd). A team from River City Church will gather with other local teams to assemble thousands of meals for refugee families.
In recent years Jacksonville has received some of the highest numbers of refugees in the United States from places like Syria, Myanmar, Congo, and Haiti because of ethnic violence, natural disasters, and even human trafficking. Their needs are tremendous. Together we will make a lasting impact!
