Jacksonville resident Antley Fowler was attending seminary in 2005 when he got an invitation from a friend to visit St. Mary's Church in London that was having a powerful impact in their community. Looking over the congregation, he saw a variety of people from all different races and classes worshipping together and thought, "Wow, this is what heaven will look like!"

The pastor of the church pulled him aside and began to tell him the story of a group of people that had been praying for two years for someone that would lead a church like this in Jacksonville. Through an amazing chain of events during the next two months, it became clear to Antley and his family that God was calling him to lead this new church. After six months of training, Antley and his family returned to Jacksonville.

River City Church was started in the fall of 2005 at the City Rescue Mission Chapel, and moved to its current location on Belfort Parkway in 2009. Our first church plant, Ocean City Church, was launched in Jacksonville Beach in 2010, led by Derek & Beth Harmon.
