The Bible
At River City Church, we believe that the Bible is “the living and abiding word of God” (1 Peter 1:23). Our desire to be biblical has implications not only for us as a church but also for us as individuals. If we believe that God’s Word is “the only infallible source of truth and the final authority in all matters of Christian belief and living,” it is essential for each of us to know the Word of God, follow it, and experience the way of life it describes.
In the Scriptures, we have a direct avenue to encounter God in powerful and transformational ways. Here, we find both our brokenness and God’s unfailing love and grace portrayed through countless narratives, parables, and teachings. As we seek to pattern our lives to become more like Jesus, the practice of spending time in the Gospels transforms our hearts and minds. And throughout his Word, we discover God's invitation to join in his divine narrative, advancing the kingdom mission of Jesus in the world.

RCC’s Daily Scripture Reading Plan: In the Word
RCC’s daily scripture emails offer a simple and convenient way to access God’s Word, providing diverse content from different parts of the Bible, emphasizing particular themes and narratives during particular seasons of the Church Year. Just click on each morning’s email and you’ll have a selection of 3-4 scripture readings. These selections offer brief passages, facilitating slower, more purposeful and meditative reading. Each day’s readings, although only a few minutes in length, can help us to see new thematic connections between different parts of the Bible, to remember the overarching narrative of the Bible—who God is and what he has done in Jesus Christ—and to live in that story every day as the people of God.
